One of my favorite go-to cocktails!

A few years ago, some friends of mine introduced me to the caipirinha, a Brazilian cocktail super similar to the caipiroska but with cachaça, a Brazilian spirit some refer to as “Brazilian rum”. You can read more about cachaça here.
While the caipirinha is delicious in its own way, I REALLY love lime and wanted a more lime forward drink without as much flavor coming from the alcohol and that’s when I was introduced to the caipiroska! And I fell in love.

This drink is super approachable for a novice mixologist (like me) and requires basic ingredients that any standard bar cart would have!
Very few bartenders know what I’m talking about when I request one of these drinks but at least it’s simple to describe.
Tonic water isn’t typically used in this cocktail but I love bubbly drinks so I add just a little bit at the end to give it that little somethin’ somethin’. Feel free to omit if that isn’t your thing; it’s just as good without.

Highly recommend the King St. vodka shown here. It’s so clean and smooth tasting. It was the perfect choice for this drink.

Caipiroska Cocktail
Ingredients
- 1/2 lime cut into wedges
- 2 tsp sugar
- ice
- 2 oz vodka ice cold, baby
- tonic water
Instructions
- Place lime wedges and sugar in an old fashion glass. Use a muddler or the back end of a wooden spoon to gently muddle the lime and sugar together. Don't press too hard because you'll release bitter oils from the lime skin.
- Add ice to the glass, the amount is up to you but I fill my glass with as much ice as possible usually. I like it cooooold.
- Add vodka and then tonic to the brim. Then, use a bar spoon to mix the cocktail. Enjoy!

Enjoy by the pool while the weather is still warm…. if you’re 21+!
